Blargh…
Food has been bad, running has been non-existent, sleeping has been off… The first half of this week has been a total bust for doing life. Fortunately, today is a new start! Low-fat Greek yogurt with granola and blueberries for breakfast, leftover shakshuka for lunch this afternoon (good stuff!), and I’m SO going running just after work this afternoon.
I don’t wanna backslide!
Running again!
And it feels oh, so good!
Did my usual 2.3-mile loop lost track of the time, but felt pretty good the whole way. Who needs a gym membership, anyway?
AAAaahahh!!!
Finally! Whatever it was that’s been killing my hip finally worked itself out! Thank goodness I went to the grocery store when I did!
That’s got to be one of the weirdest pains I’ve ever experienced; an achy, constant pain in my left hip, somewhere around the joint, that made me limp and got worse and better unpredictably.
I have no clue what it was, but I’m really, reeeeeeeally happy it’s gone.
Hopefully that means tomorrow I’ll be able to get back on the pavement. Boyfriend would have a fit if I went running after dark. (weirdo.)
Weigh-In!
It’s been far too long!
I didn’t take a picture, and I’ve eaten breakfast since then, so I can’t go back for one. Bummer. But… *drumroll, please*
140.8!
Down almost 4 lbs from my hkw, and down almost 2 lbs from my starting point. Yay! Movement! Now I just have to keep it up…
My hip’s been giving me some trouble the past couple of days (I swear I’m not usually this whiny or broken! I don’t know what’s gotten into me lately!), but this evening, come hell or highwater, I’m going to hit the pavement again. I like what I saw on the scale this morning, and I want more of it.
Oh, and Happy Friday! How has your week been?
What I spent this morning doing instead of flat-ironing my hair. Totally worth it.
Awesome, awesome, awesome.

This article is about “How to not care what other people think of you” directed at girls. This should be every girl’s bible. Seriously. There isn’t a single girl on this planet who couldn’t gain something from reading this article.
So this is badass and a massive confidence booster. Seriously, if you want to have a better day, read this. Also, this website is pretty sweet. I want to post more stuff from here.
Definately a must read.
2.24 miles.
34:44.
Walked into my heated apartment and started sweating like a dog (even though dogs don’t have sweat glands, but whatever).
Used Week 2 of the First Day to 5k series and had to use about 6 minutes of other music to get back to the apartment. I’d really like to make it so that I can run the 2.27 mile loop without any other music, but I guess that’s what the program is for in the first place; getting faster and stronger.
Today felt really, really good. Knee and ankle were fine. I had a stitch kick in about a mile in, but I ran through it and it smoothed out towards the end. Must remember to drink more water. I realized that I tend to land on the outside of my left foot and then roll towards the center. I don’t do that with my right foot. Maybe a cause of the ankle/knee pain last week? Must pay more attention to form.
Also; got about two blocks into the run, and the creepy guy walking two blocks ahead of me (in the same direction) noticed me running, and suddenly started walking reeeeeally slowly. I turned around and went a different way. WIN.
The day is still young! Going shopping! Yay!
Ankle is feeling better today…
… so tomorrow I’m going to try for a run after work.
2+ miles, just to ease back into it.
Wish me luck!
OOOOWWWWW…
So, my grand 4-mile expedition was pretty much a bust. LAME.
I got about a mile in, Podrunner: Intervals-style, before I realized that my left knee was about to give out on me. After momentarily collapsing against a tree, I turned around and went back the way I came.
I did the second mile Limping-in-defeat-what-the-hell-just-happened-OW-that-####ing-HURTS-FREAKING-OWWWWWW-style.
I guess my mis-matched compression bandages were NOT a lucky charm.

Gotta turn that time stamp off.
Looks like tomorrow will probably be a day off.
The most frustrating thing, is that I’ve done much longer distances multiple days in a row on the treadmill and never had any problems like this. I guess that’s the reason to get outside, though; the variables make it more of a challenge and a better workout. I just wish they’d leave me with functional legs! And again, I say, LAME.
Sorry folks - I guess I may not be hitting the pavement for a few days. :-(
Any recommendations for helping my goofy legs come to their senses?
Firstly, a shoutout to mollierunning and heartstrongrun! Thanks for the follow; I’ll try my best to keep things interesting in this corner of the world!
Onward to business: my ankles are giving me some real trouble today. It’s probably a combination of things - not being used to running outside, not running regularly for a while, hills hills and more hills… I’ll be falling back on my trusty Ace bandages for this afternoon’s run. Nice thing about having chronic ankle sprains? Plenty of compression bandages for use on knees, ankles, and other places with unwelcome movement! (P.S. This isn’t a good trade-off. Keep your good ankles if you have them!)
Back out on the roads this evening for week 2 of Intervals training… I’m going to try and run it twice for an hour-long workout and about 4 miles of distance. We’ll see if I make it.
2.27 miles. 35 minutes.
… and outdoors, to boot!

Felt great and probably could have gone back around for another go, but grocery shopping was required.
Good day at work? Check. Went for a run? Check. Meal planning? Check. Grocery shopping? Check. Healthy dinner? Check.
Good day.
